The latest Seagate One Touch SSD belongs to that group, offering high-level performance and unmatched versatility in a compact frame. Priced at P8,567 for the 1TB model, it might be just what you need in a portable storage device. Read on and find out in our review.

Design and Features

Portable storage devices often come with boring designs, frequently in black colors and far from sexy. But the One Touch SSD goes the other way with a stylish look.

Our review unit has a sleek blue metal case, a white plastic frame, and sides lined with a fabric material. It has a firm build, providing a solid feel all around. The device has a USB-C port and an LED that lights up when used.

The One Touch SSD is tiny and compact. It measures 0.42 x 1.97 x 2.76 inches with a light weight of only 45 g. Its size is about as small as an ID and as thick as a stack of credit cards. It can easily fit most pockets and even some wallets.

The portable SSD supports up to USB 3.2 Gen 2. Inside the box, it comes with a USB-C and USB-C to A cable, both on the short side.

The One Touch SSD is plug-and-play and works straight out of the box on Windows, macOS, and Android devices. On Windows and Mac computers, you can use the default file manager programs to manage your files. You can also use Seagate’s Toolkit software to backup and sync your files. For Android devices, the same can be done using your phone’s default file manager app or Seagate’s SSD Touch app for quicker backups and syncing.

Performance

The One Touch SSD 1TB is listed with read and write speeds of up to 1,030Mbps. The CrystalDiskMark 8 software confirms the numbers as seen below.

In real-world usage, this translates to blazing-fast file transfers. With the included USB-C cable and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port, a file transfer of a single 1.5GB movie file took less than 2 seconds to complete.

In transferring multiple files, the process takes a little longer, but its performance is still generally fast. Using a folder with 161 images and a total size of 1GB, file transfers took just 3 seconds. Meanwhile, a folder containing 9 videos totaling 15.2GB took around 30 seconds to complete.

It’s also worth noting that transfers using the USB-C to USB-A 3.0 port were considerably slower with speeds of around 300 to 450Mbps.

Verdict

It will serve you well as an external drive for quick transfers of large files between devices, and as a personal backup device for your photos and videos.
