Netflix drops trailer for ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’ anime

Netflix recently released the latest trailer for the upcoming Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime. It will be streaming on the platform starting September 13, 2022.

The anime is based on Cyberpunk 2077 video game, produced by CD PROJEKT RED, together with the a creative team responsible for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will have 10 episodes. According to its synopses, the story is about a street kid trying to survive in Night City — a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he stays alive by becoming an edgerunner — a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.

Acclaimed Japan-based animation company, Studio Trigger, will serve as the animation studio. Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) will direct the series along with assistant director Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann, Promare), creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi (Kill la Kill), and character designer Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia, BNA: Brand New Animal) and Yuto Kaneko (Little Witch Academia).

The original score is composed by Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill series).
