Apple announces the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, now featuring a new Dynamic Island, an Always-On display, and the A16 Bionic chip.
The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max feature surgical-grade stainless steel and textured matte glass designs. It comes in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes. Both models have a new Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion which dynamically changes the refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz, depending on what’s on the screen.
The Dynamic Island enables new ways to interact with iPhone Pro models. It’s essentially a notification area around the pill-shaped notch that shows important alerts, notifications, and other activities.
The Pro models also offer a list of display technologies, such as the new Always-On display for the first time on iPhones, up to 2000 nits of brightness, True Tone, Dolby Vision, HDR, Haptic Touch, and of course, Ceramic Shield protection.
The new iPhones are powered by the new A16 Bionic chip. The new 6‑core CPU has 2 Performance and 4 Efficiency Cores and is said to be up to 40% faster than competing chips. Meanwhile, the 5-core GPU has 50% more memory bandwidth. Running the device is iOS 16.
At the back, the Pro models have a quad camera setup with a 48MP main with quad pixel sensor and a 2nd gen sensor-shift optical image stabilization, alongside a 12MP ultra-wide, a 12MP 3x zoom telephoto, and a 12MP 3x zoom telephoto. It supports Photonic Engine which improves mid- to low-light performance. There’s also a 12MP camera for selfies hidden on the pill-shaped notch.

As for the battery life, expect up to 23 hours of video playback, up to 20 hours of streaming video, and up to 75 hours of audio playback on the iPhone 14 Pro. The iPhone 14 Pro Max on the other hand offers up to 29 hours of video playback, up to 25 hours of streaming video, and up to 95 hours of audio playback.
The lightning connector is still present. Apple says a 30-minute charge gives up to 50% of the battery.
The new iPhone Pro models also incorporate Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via satellite. Crash Detections is alerted using G-force measurements and advanced gyroscopes to detect crashes. Meanwhile, Emergency SOS now has satellite support that enables messaging even without a cellular connection.
Price and Availability
As for availability details of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max in the Philippines, expect them to arrive sometime in late October to early November.
