Tecno launches Phantom X2 series with Dimensity 9000, X2 Pro boasts retractable portrait lens

Tecno Mobile launches the premium Phantom X2 series, which features innovative camera systems, a premium design, and powerful chipsets.

The Tecno Phantom X2 and Phantom X2 Pro are powered by the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset, which not only has more power than the previous generation series but also better efficiency. The vanilla model has 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The Pro variant has 12GB RAM with the same storage capacity.

Both smartphones have an AMOLED display, with the Pro variant rocking a 6.8-inch panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the vanilla has a 6.7-inch panel with 90Hz. They also come with a 5160mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging.

The big story here is the Phantom X2 Pro’s camera system, which features a retractable lens that’s meant to maintain the thin profile. It has a 50MP sensor paired with a bright f/1.5 aperture lens which helps create a more natural bokeh and a 65mm field of view. It can also zoom in optically up to 2.5 times.

The Phantom X2 Pro also has a 50MP primary camera 1/1.3” ISOCELL 3.0 sensor, alongside a 13MP ultra-wide and a 32MP selfie camera in front.

The Phantom X2 vanilla has a 64MP primary with one glass element, allowing it to increase light intake by 30%. It also has a 13MP ultra-wide and a 2MP depth at the back, and a 32MP selfie camera in front.

At the moment, only price details in Saudi Arabia were released. The Tecno Phantom X2 has an SRP of SAR 2,700 (PHP 39,800 / USD 718), while the Phantom X2 Pro goes for SAR 3,500 (PHP 51,600 / USD 931).

Looking at the prices, it’s unlikely we’ll see the Phantom X2 series in the Philippines, but we could be wrong.
