Google has released its annual Year in Search for 2022, featuring the top searches in the Philippines. These are what Filipinos were googling the most, ranging from local events to global trends.
“Halalan 2022” was the top trending search in the Philippines, as the country held the 2022 Philippine presidential and vice presidential elections on May 9, 2022, as part of the 2022 general election.
“VaxCertPH” was second, as people scramble to get their vaccination certificates as the country opened up to normalcy, and to some extent, travel.
The third top trending search is “precinct finder”. Connected to the 2022 elections, citizens came out in droves, looking for their respective voting precincts.
“Wordle” and “All of Us Are Dead” round up the top five searches in the Philippines. I too googled “Wordle”, a popular game where you try to guess a 5-letter word every day, got on the bandwagon, and played the game for a couple of weeks. Incidentally, “Wordle” is also the top trending search globally.
Meanwhile, the zombie horror Kdrama “All of Us Are Dead” was a success for Netflix with good reviews, including an 87% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
