Attention furparents! Pet dogs and cats will soon be allowed on the LRT-2

Good news for furparents. You can soon bring your pet dogs and cats aboard the LRT-2 starting February 1, 2023, said the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA).

Before you bring your pets along with you on a commute, there are rules that need to be followed. Check out the list below for the details.

  • Only one dog or cat of a small size is allowed per passenger.
  • Dogs and cats can ride for free.
  • Pets should be in an enclosed carrier or cage not larger than 2 ft x 2 ft in size.
  • The carrier or cage should be on the passenger’s lap or on the floor. It cannot occupy an extra seat on the train.
  • Pet strollers are not allowed.
  • Your pet should wear a diaper at all times while inside the LRT-2.
  • You cannot feed your pet in the station or while aboard the train.
  • Your pet will be subject to inspection. You will also be required to show your pet’s vaccination card.
  • Passengers with pets can only ride the last or end coach of the train.
  • Passenger pet owners shall be solely responsible for any injury or damage caused by the pet.

According to the LRTA, they have the right to refuse transport to pets exhibiting unruly, distressed, and aggressive behavior, those that show signs of pain, and those that pose a threat to the health and safety of other passengers.

LRTA’s new policy allowing pet dogs and cats on board the LRT-2 trains will start on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
