Acer has unveiled its latest move to enhance the development of glasses-free, stereoscopic 3D experiences on its SpatialLabs Pro devices. The company has expanded its developer tools, offering more avenues for creators to build immersive content and applications.
The new tools include Unity plug-in support, certified OpenXR runtime for SpatialLabs, and the Acer SteamVR Bridge, all designed to unlock the full potential of stereo 3D technology.
Unity Plug-in: Empowering Creators in Various Industries
Acer has launched its support for the Unity plug-in, opening up new possibilities for creators in diverse fields such as education, architecture, construction, medicine, and more. Unity, a widely used platform for creating stereo 3D content and applications, now extends its existing tools and verticals to Acer SpatialLabs Pro Devices. With the Unity plug-in, professional developers can enhance their experiences and present their models in proper 3D form without requiring specialized glasses.
Acer OpenXR Runtime
A significant milestone for Acer, the company has successfully reached conformance for its OpenXR Runtime. This achievement ensures that SpatialLabs Pro devices are conformant with OpenXR, an open standard for extended reality (XR) development. As a longstanding member and contributor to the Khronos OpenXR working group, Acer remains committed to promoting open standards and building an accessible ecosystem for its hardware solutions. With OpenXR, content and application creators can leverage high-resolution, glasses-free stereoscopic 3D visuals, fostering faster innovation and an immersive experience. OpenXR compatibility extends to popular applications such as AutoDesk VRED 2023 and Blender, providing users with a wide range of creative options.
Acer SteamVR Bridge
Acer’s proprietary SteamVR Bridge driver offers developers of VR applications an exciting opportunity to deliver captivating imagery and clarity to users without the need for VR headsets. From virtual tours to art exhibits and educational content, developers can now convert their creations on Acer’s SpatialLabs Pro devices, ensuring an enhanced stereo 3D projection.
