Smart‘s upcoming Prepaid eSIM, the first of its kind in the country, silently appeared on its official online store, only to disappear soon after.

An eSIM is a virtual SIM that allows customers to access prepaid mobile services without the need to buy a physical SIM card. Customers can simply scan a QR code using their eSIM-compatible smartphone and register their new mobile number online.

The Smart Prepaid eSIM is priced at P99 and comes with 21GB of data, plus free calls and texts to all networks for seven days. To activate the eSIM, Smart says to scan the eSIM QR code and register your mobile number at smart.com.ph/simreg.

The Prepaid eSIM was briefly available on the Smart online store but (at the time of writing) has since been removed. Smart has not issued an official statement about the prepaid eSIM launch, which leads us to believe it was mistakenly uploaded before its official announcement. It is not clear when it will be back or if it will be offered.

When it becomes official, the Smart Prepaid eSIM will only be compatible with devices that support eSIM technology, such as the iPhone 14, 13, 12, and 11 Series, the Galaxy Z Series, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Series, and the Galaxy Note 20 Series, among others.

Unfortunately for us, we won’t be able to get one at the moment. We’ll have to wait until Smart makes it official. We’ll keep you posted.
