OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G review: A premium mid-range phone with impressive features

A premium smartphone with no compromises.

OPPO has been making waves in the smartphone market with its innovative and stylish devices. The OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G is the latest addition to its premium mid-range lineup, and it offers some impressive features that make it stand out from the crowd.

For starters, the Reno10 Pro+ 5G has a stunning 6.74-inch AMOLED display, a powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, and a versatile triple camera system with a periscope telephoto lens. But is it worth the price tag? Read on to find out if the OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G is the right smartphone for you.

Display & Design

As the flagship model of OPPO’s Reno10 Series, the Reno10 Pro+ 5G is a sleek and stylish smartphone that boasts a stunning display and a premium design.

OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G

One of its highlight features is its stunning 6.74-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2772×1240 pixels and a pixel density of 451 ppi. The display is one of the best in its range, with over 1B colors, while packing a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a peak brightness of 1400 nits. It is also protected by Asahi Glass AGC DT-Star2, which is scratch-resistant and durable.

The design of the OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G is sleek and elegant, with a glass front and back and a plastic frame. It comes in two colors: Silvery Grey and Glossy Purple. It has a slim profile of 8.3mm and weighs only 194g.

The phone also has an in-display fingerprint sensor, dual SIM support, NFC, an IR port, and a USB Type-C port. Unsurprisingly, it lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot.

Cameras

The OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G has a triple camera setup on the back, consisting of a 50MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture, multi-directional PDAF, and OIS; a 64MP periscope telephoto camera with f/2.5 aperture, PDAF, 3x optical zoom, and OIS; and an 8MP ultrawide camera with f/2.2 aperture and 112-degree field of view.

The cameras are undoubtedly another highlight of the phone. The main camera produces excellent photos in good lighting conditions. The images are sharp, detailed, and well-exposed, with accurate colors and contrast. The dynamic range is also impressive. The noise level is low, and the edge detection is good. The main camera can also handle challenging scenes with backlit subjects or mixed lighting, thanks to AI scene recognition and optimization.

The portrait periscope telephoto lens is one of the standout features of the device. It has a 1/2″ sensor that sits behind an f/2.5 lens and has phase detection autofocus (PDAF)1. The telephoto lens can provide 3x optical zoom, 6x hybrid zoom, and up to 120x digital zoom. The telephoto lens also supports OIS, which helps to stabilize the shots at higher zoom levels.

The telephoto lens delivers impressive results in both portrait and zoom modes. The portrait mode uses the telephoto lens to create a natural bokeh effect, which isolates the subject from the background. The portrait photos are sharp, detailed, and flattering, with accurate skin tones and smooth edges.

The zoom photos are surprisingly good at 3x and 6x levels, where they are ample details with minimal noise. At higher zoom levels, photos are still usable, though you lose sharpness, and some noise and artifacts are visible.

The ultra-wide lens of the OPPO Reno10 pro+ 5G produces decent photos in good lighting conditions. The images are bright, colorful, and have minimal distortion at the edges. However, the ultra-wide photos are not as sharp or detailed as the main camera photos, and the dynamic range is lower. It also struggles in low-light situations, where the images are noisy, blurry, and dull.

The selfie camera can capture 8MP photos by default, using pixel binning to improve the quality. However, you can also switch to 32MP mode if you want more resolution.

As a result, the phone takes great selfies in most conditions. The images are sharp, detailed, and well-exposed, with natural colors and skin tones. The autofocus works well, and the edge detection is good. The selfie camera also supports HDR, Night mode, portrait mode, and various effects and filters. The selfie camera can also record 4K videos at 30fps, or 1080p videos at 60fps.

Performance

The OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The processor has eight cores with a Qualcomm Adreno 730 GPU. The chipset is paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The phone runs on Android 13 with ColorOS 13.1 skin on top. It also supports 5G connectivity.

The Reno10 pro+ 5G delivers impressive performance in both daily usage and gaming. It can handle multiple apps running in the background without any lag or stutter. The device can also run demanding games such as PUBG Mobile, Asphalt 9, and Genshin Impact at high settings with smooth frame rates. It does get warm, but nothing too uncomfortable.

The phone also has stereo speakers that deliver clear and loud sound quality. The speakers are located at the top and bottom of the device, and they support Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio for an immersive audio experience. They can produce rich and balanced sound with good bass and treble. The speakers are among the best in the market, and can rival those of flagships.

Battery Life

The OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G has a large 4700mAh battery, which can power the phone for a full day of moderate to heavy usage. The device also supports 100W SUPERVOOC charging, which is the fastest charging technology on a Reno phone to date.

The device can charge from 0% to 50% in under 15 minutes. Meanwhile, charging from 20% to 100% takes only 30 minutes. Turning on the Smart Rapid Charging speed up charging, saving you around 5 minutes.

Verdict

The OPPO Reno10 pro+ 5G is a smartphone that offers a lot of value for its price. The device has a stunning display, a premium design, a versatile camera system, a powerful performance, and a long-lasting battery with ultra-fast charging. However, it is not perfect, and it does not excel in any particular area, but it is great overall that it can outclass other devices in the same range from the likes of Samsung, Apple, Huawei, and Xiaomi.

The only drawbacks of the phone (and I’m nitpicking here) are the lack of a headphone jack, microSD card slot, wireless charging, and the lack of any IP rating. However, these are minor issues.

Overall, the OPPO Reno10 pro+ 5G is a smartphone that deserves your attention and consideration. It is a worthy contender in the premium smartphone market and deserves a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars.

The OPPO Reno10 Pro+ 5G with 12GB+256GB is priced at PHP 39,999. It is now available in the Philippines. The phone can also be purchased via installment plans through credit cards or Home Credit.
