Netflix released a new trailer for its upcoming epic space opera film, Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire, directed by Zack Snyder. The film, which is set to premiere on December 22, 2023, features an ensemble cast that includes Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Charlie Hunnam, Anthony Hopkins, and more.
Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire is the first installment of a two-part saga that follows Kora, a former member of the Imperium, the army of the corrupt Mother World, who seeks redemption for her past by rallying warriors from across the galaxy to fight against the tyrannical Regent Balisarius. The film is based on a story that Snyder created and co-wrote with Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten.
The new trailer showcases the stunning visuals, action-packed scenes, and diverse characters that populate the film’s universe. It also reveals more details about the plot, such as the threat posed by the Imperium to the peaceful moon of Veldt, the mysterious origin of Kora, and the role of Jimmy, the last member of a race of mechanical knights, voiced by Hopkins.
Snyder, who also serves as the cinematographer and producer of the film, said that Rebel Moon is his passion project that he has been developing for over a decade. He described it as a “love letter to sci-fi and fantasy fans” and a “tribute to the genre’s legends, such as Star Wars, Dune, and Lord of the Rings.”
Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire is expected to be one of the biggest releases of Netflix in 2023, as the streaming giant continues to invest in original and exclusive content. The film will have a limited theatrical release in the United States on December 15, 2023, before its streaming debut on December 22, 2023. The sequel, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, is set to be released on April 19, 2024.
