The launch event will be live-streamed on Facebook at 7 p.m. on January 12. You can catch it here: https://bit.ly/FB_X9b_Pressrelease.
Before the launch, HONOR Philippines showcased the phone’s durability at an Ultra Tough Challenge camp in Rizal, with members of the media. There, the X9b survived various tests, including being run over by a Hummer, a smash test relay, a paintball, a sparring and archery contest, and a 50-ft drop test.
We also had our own quick and dirty test and dropped the HONOR X9b several times on tiles and granite flooring. The phone survived, escaping with minor scuffs and scratches at the edges. The display remained unscathed. You can watch our short drop test video here, and see for yourself.
The ultimate test, however, is yet to come. HONOR is planning to drop the phone from a height of a 100-ft at the launch event.
HONOR Philippines Vice President Stephen Cheng said the phone was designed to be durable after undergoing three tempering processes. “HONOR X9b 5G has been proven durable as the device was carefully studied and has undergone three tempering processes and we are sure that it can surpass the success of its predecessor. Advice for the public though, while we are confident that it will survive intense pressure, intentional dropping and smashing might still cause physical damage to the phone,” said Cheng.
The HONOR X9b 5G boasts a 120Hz curved AMOLED screen with a micron-sized gap structure that ensures 360-degree drop resistance. It also has a 108MP main camera, and an 5800mAh battery, which can last a full day.
The phone is expected to compete against mid-range phones from other brands, such as Samsung, OPPO, and realme. For more information and updates, visit HONOR’s website www.hihonor.com, or follow its social media.
