Netflix drops brutal NSFW trailer for Terminator Zero

Netflix dropped a new trailer for its upcoming anime series, Terminator Zero, and it’s not for the faint of heart.

The trailer is marked NSFW due to its graphic violence, offering a glimpse into a future war between humanity and a relentless machine army. The animation style, courtesy of Production I.G (known for Ghost in the Shell), promises a visually stunning reimagining of the Terminator universe.

Terminator Zero

Terminator Zero premieres on Netflix on August 29, the same date Skynet became self-aware in the 1991 movie “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.”

The series boasts a star-studded English dub cast that includes Timothy Olyphant as the Terminator, Rosario Dawson as Kokoro (a Japanese AI), André Holland as Malcolm Lee (the programmer), Sonoya Mizuno as Eiko, and Ann Dowd as The Prophet.

While set within the Terminator universe, the series focuses on a new cast of characters. Terminator Zero follows a soldier sent back in time to 1997. Her mission: protect a scientist, Malcolm Lee, from an unrelenting cyborg assassin also from the future.

Lee’s work revolves around a new AI system that could potentially counter Skynet’s threat. Torn between the moral implications of his creation and the relentless pursuit of the assassin, Lee grapples with a decision that will forever alter the fate of his children.

The upcoming Terminator anime series is a collaboration between Netflix, Skydance, and the renowned Japanese animation studio Production I.G., known for its work on titles like Ghost in the Shell, Psycho-Pass, and FLCL.

Serving as both showrunner and writer, Mattson Tomlin, whose credits include co-writing The Batman and Project Power for Netflix, brings his unique storytelling style to the franchise.
