ICYMI: Ranma 1/2 reboot is now streaming on Netflix

In case you missed it, “Ranma 1/2” is now streaming on Netflix. The first episode is out with the next one scheduled for October 13. The new series is a reboot of the beloved martial arts anime classic from 1989.

“Ranma 1/2” features the voice cast from the original series, including Kappei Yamaguchi, Megumi Hayashibara, and Noriko Hidaka as Ranma, female Ranma, and Akane Tendo, respectively. Also returning to reprise their roles are Minami Takayama, Kikuko Inoue, Koichi Yamadera, and Rei Sakuma.

The series is directed by Konosuke Uda, with production handled by animation studio MAPPA, known for series like “Yuri!!! on Ice,” “Jujutsu Kaisen,” “Attack on Titan” (season 4), “Chainsaw Man,” “Vinland Saga” (season 2), and many more.

The series follows Ranma Saotome, a martial artist cursed by a magical spring that transforms him into a girl when splashed with cold water. Hot water reverses the transformation. “Ranma 1/2” is based on the popular manga of the same name by Rumiko Takahashi, the creator of the equally iconic “Inuyasha.” The original manga ran from 1987 to 1996 and was first adapted into an anime series in 1989.

Ranma 1/2 is available only on Netflix. Watch it here.
