Netflix ISP Speed Index shows average speeds for PH in December ranking

Netflix has released its Internet Service Providers (ISPs) Speed Index for December 2024, revealing the fastest service provider that offered the best streaming experience at the end of last year.

In December, 5% of ISPs saw an increase of 0.2 Mbps, 70% remained the same, and 25% saw a decrease of 0.2 to 0.6 Mbps.

Only three countries and regions were in the top performance tier, compared to the twelve in November. Namely, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Spain all registered an average speed of 3.4 Mbps.

There were also a few notable changes in global average speeds. Vietnam saw a decrease of 0.4 Mbps, dropping from 3.0 to 2.6 Mbps. Meanwhile, Mexico and Costa Rica saw increases of 0.2 Mbps, from 3.0 to 3.2 Mbps.

In the Philippines, both Royal Cable and SKYCable saw average speeds of 3.2 Mbps. Converge ICT Solution, Globe, and PLDT averaged 3.0 Mbps. Globally, that position is in the middle of the index.

However, this doesn’t mean Filipino viewers experience buffering or lower picture quality compared to users in other countries with faster speeds. For most, the Netflix experience in the real world remains positive.

Be aware that Netflix’s ISP Speed Index only reflects prime-time Netflix performance and doesn’t represent overall internet speed.
