Meanwhile, realme has secured the second spot with a 13% market share, despite a dip of -7% annual growth. Their success is fueled by popular releases from their flagship GT series, the mid-range Number series, and the budget-friendly Note and C-Series devices.

Xiaomi is close behind with a 13% market share and a remarkable 46% growth. Canalys often includes sub-brand Redmi and POCO with Xiaomi estimates. The strategy allows the brand to offer feature-packed devices at various price points.

OPPO sits comfortably in fourth place with an 11% market share. Their strong performance is thanks to the popular A-series and Reno devices. Plus, their re-entry into the local flagship segment with the OPPO Find X8 has given them a boost.

Rounding out the top five is Samsung, also with an 11% market share and a healthy 19% annual growth. They’ve delivered their strongest S-series volume since 2019, particularly the Ultra models. Their mid-range A-series is also a key player in their growth.

Meanwhile, the global smartphone market grew by 7% in 2024, hitting 1.22 billion units, according to Canalys. This marks a significant turnaround after two consecutive years of declines.

“2024 has been a comeback year for the smartphone industry, delivering the highest annual global shipment volume post-pandemic,” said Runar Bjørhovde, Analyst at Canalys. “Demand has been soaring in the mass-market segment, driven by a refresh cycle of pandemic-bought smartphones alongside channel replenishments.”

The rankings were based on sell-in shipment data, which reflects the delivery of units from a manufacturer or distributor to a retailer.
