HONOR recently launched its latest mid-range beast, the HONOR 400 5G, in the Philippines. Priced at ₱22,999, the smartphone packs some serious punch with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, a 200MP camera, a massive 6,000mAh battery, and clever AI-powered tools.
But is it enough to make it your next daily driver? We took the HONOR 400 5G for a spin, and the results might surprise you.
Design and Display
The HONOR 400 5G sports a compact footprint, measuring 15.65 x 7.46 cm with a slim 0.73 cm thickness. Unlike its predecessor, the larger, curved-screen HONOR 200, this model features a flatter design and a smaller 6.55-inch display.

Build quality is solid, although those with larger hands might find the device (without the case) slightly less comfortable to grip securely due to its thin frame. Nevertheless, the phone feels good in the hand, thanks to the gently curved corners and a flat profile.
Our review unit came in Midnight Black, showcasing a sleek matte finish. Compared to the HONOR 200, the design is more understated, with cleaner aesthetics. The rear camera module adds a bit of flair with its glossy, mirrored accent.
As expected from HONOR, durability is a key selling point. The device is rated IP66, making it resistant to dust and high-pressure streams of water, giving you some peace of mind during unexpected spills or sudden rain.
It also boasts a 5-Star SGS Drop Resistance rating, improving its odds of surviving accidental drops.

Back to the display, the HONOR 400 5G features a 6.55-inch 1.2K AMOLED panel with a crisp 2736×1264 resolution. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling, along with 3840Hz ultra-high frequency PWM dimming to reduce eye strain. With a peak brightness of 5000 nits, the screen stays highly readable even under direct sunlight.
In terms of button and port placement, the volume rocker and power button sit on the right side. Along the bottom edge are the SIM tray, microphone, USB-C port, and a bottom-firing speaker. Up top, you’ll find a secondary speaker, an IR blaster, and another microphone.

Cameras
On the photography front, the HONOR 400 5G boasts a 200MP main sensor, complemented by a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 50MP front-facing camera. Imaging performance is pretty good for its class. Our test shots revealed decent detail reproduction and punchy, vibrant colors.

While it doesn’t compete with premium flagship devices, the HONOR 400 delivers more than enough for everyday needs: social media snaps, casual shooting, and even short-form video creation, supporting up to 4K recording at 30fps.
One fun extra is the AI-powered Image-to-Video tool in the Gallery app, which animates photos using AI. It needs an internet connection and takes a few seconds to a couple of minutes to process. Great for social media, it’s a nice touch, though its novelty may wear off in time.

Performance
The HONOR 400 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, the same chip as last year’s HONOR 200. It comes with 12GB of RAM and a generous 512GB of internal storage.
The phone runs on MagicOS 9.0 on top of Android 15. It supports HONOR RAM Turbo, which virtually extends memory by up to 12GB, at the expense of storage space.
It’s also equipped with a suite of AI-powered features to improve system optimization and everyday usability.

Content lovers will enjoy the Widevine L1 certification on board, allowing Full HD streaming on platforms like Netflix, HBO, Disney+, and Prime Video. It also supports HDR playback on Netflix.
In terms of real-world performance, the HONOR 400 5G feels snappy and responsive, with no noticeable lag or stutter. Apps launch quickly, and multitasking is smooth.
Gaming is respectable, too. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 still holds its own. Genshin Impact can run on high settings, though dialing them down means smoother gameplay. Call of Duty Mobile is also fully playable on high graphics.
HONOR also includes the built-in Game Center, which helps enhance performance by managing resources and limiting notifications.
Benchmark results are similar to the HONOR 200. The HONOR 400 5G scored a solid 860,457 on AnTuTu. On Geekbench 6, it posted 1,137 in the Single-Core Test and 3,123 in Multi-Core. And in 3DMark Wild Life, it scored 5,405.
Battery Life
Despite its compact build, the HONOR 400 5G packs a sizable 6,000mAh battery that supports 80W wired fast charging.
In the PC Mark Work 3.0 Battery Life test, it logged 11 hours and 7 minutes. The test was conducted with the battery starting at 100%, brightness set to 80%, volume muted, and airplane mode enabled. That translates to about 9 hours and 30 minutes of screen-on time, enough to comfortably last a day with battery left for the next morning.

Charging performance is also solid. Going from 20% to full took one hour with the included charger. A quick 15-minute top-up yielded 22%, while 30 minutes bumped it up by 44%.
Final Thoughts
The HONOR 400 5G is a well-rounded mid-range device with a competitive ₱22,999 price tag. It brings plenty to the table — a compact build, a 6.55-inch 1.2K AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, a 200MP main camera, and a massive 6,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging.
That said, it doesn’t deviate too far from last year’s HONOR 200 5G, which delivers similar performance with a slightly smaller battery and faster charging. If you already own the HONOR 200, you might not find enough reason to upgrade.
But if you’re in the market for a compact phone with capable internals and solid everyday performance, the HONOR 400 5G stands as a strong contender.
