Xiaomi has officially launched the Xiaomi 17T series in the Philippines. In this review, we’re taking a closer look at the Xiaomi 17T.
True to Xiaomi’s philosophy, the brand packs as many premium components as possible into a competitive price point. The 17T is no different. Starting at ₱33,999, it boasts a MediaTek Dimensity 8500‑Ultra, a Leica telephoto camera, and a massive 6,500mAh battery.
On paper, it’s a powerhouse, but does it deliver in real-world use? Let’s find out.
Design & Display
The Xiaomi 17T follows the design language of the Xiaomi 17, sporting a minimalist look with a flat display, a square camera module, and a solid build.

It looks good and feels premium in the hand, thanks to the flat metal frame with a matte anodized finish. The edges are clean with curved corners, with the power and volume buttons sitting on the right side for quick access.
At the back, you’ll find the square Leica‑tuned triple‑camera island at the top left. It shares the same finish as the rear panel, giving it a more seamless look. Unlike the 17, though, the lenses are flushed with the module, making it look sleeker.
Our test unit came in the classic Black colorway, which has an elegant, almost dark gray tone. Other options include Violet and Opal White.

Up front, the 17T packs a 6.59‑inch flat AMOLED display with 2756×1268 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and over 68 billion colors with solid accuracy.
The screen is sharp with vibrant colors and deep blacks. And with a peak brightness of 3,500 nits, outdoor visibility is excellent.
For durability, the phone comes with Gorilla Glass 7i, a pre‑installed screen protector, and a bundled case. It also has an IP68 rating, meaning it’s dust‑tight and can survive submersion in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for 30 minutes.

Beyond the display, the 17T also packs stereo speakers and a fast in‑display fingerprint scanner.
The audio is decent for casual use, but it can sound a bit thin and scattered at times, with mids and bass lacking the punch I prefer. More depth would have been appreciated, though I think for most users it’s far from a deal‑breaker.
Performance
The 17T impressed us with the MediaTek Dimensity 8500‑Ultra, a premium sub‑flagship 4nm chipset launched earlier this year. It delivers near‑flagship performance with high power efficiency, easily handling everyday tasks and intensive games.

Our review unit came with 12GB RAM, plus 6GB extended RAM, and 512GB storage. It runs on HyperOS 3, built on Android 16, which offers a wide range of features and customization options that make it highly usable.
That said, the software still feels like it needs a bit more refinement. It’s not a deal‑breaker, but I feel Xiaomi is just a few steps away from turning HyperOS into a top‑tier operating system.
Out of the box, you’ll find several third‑party apps (AKA bloatware). Like always, just uninstall or disable what you don’t need. Leaving them there can take up space, add background processes, and push annoying notifications.
For updates, the 17T will get 5 major OS upgrades and 6 years of security patches, which means the software will be secure until 2032.
In daily use, the interface is clean, and navigation feels smooth and responsive. Apps open quickly and we didn’t encounter any issues during testing. For gaming, most titles run comfortably at default to high graphics settings.

Benchmark scores back this up:

- Geekbench 6: 1,724 single-core / 6,544 multi-core

Battery & Charging
The Xiaomi 17T packs a 6,500mAh battery with 67W wired fast charging and 22.5W wired reverse charging. Despite the huge capacity, the phone stays relatively compact. There’s no wireless charging here, which is expected in this range.

Battery life was solid. It lasted a full day with regular to heavy use. In the PCMark Work 3.0 Battery Life test, the phone managed 14 hours and 55 minutes, tested at 80% brightness, muted volume, adaptive refresh rate, and airplane mode enabled. That translates to around 12 hours and 40 minutes of screen‑on time.
You can extend battery life even further by lowering the screen brightness. At around 80%, the panel is more than bright enough for most users (I personally prefer higher brightness, hence the setting). Dialing it down will have the most impact on saving power.

Charging speeds are equally impressive. Using the bundled 67W charger, charging from 15% to 100% took roughly 1 hour, which is quick for a battery this large.
Cameras
The Xiaomi 17T comes with a Leica‑tuned triple camera setup, led by a 50MP Light Fusion 800 sensor, paired with a 50MP 5x telephoto and a 12MP ultra‑wide lens. Up front is a 32MP selfie camera under a hole‑punch cutout.

Overall, the phone produces clean, cinematic photos that feel closer to a real camera. It skips the over‑processed smartphone look in favor of a more natural finish.
Here, Leica’s tuning does a good job. It delivered rich, lifelike colors. It also handles tricky lighting well, like harsh beach sunlight or shooting into shaded tree canopies. Highlights are controlled without blowing out the sky or washing out contrast.
Details are sharp and natural. The 23mm main and 2x zoom shots capture crisp textures like sand, fabric, and coconut husks without the harsh edge‑sharpening you usually see on similarly priced devices. The wide aperture also allows close‑ups with a smooth, natural background blur.
Sample Photos

Zoom

Pushing the digital zoom makes shots softer and more processed, but overall performance looks balanced. You still get those moody, high‑contrast photos straight out of the camera.
Night & Low Light

In low‑light scenes, shadows are deep and moody instead of being forced to look like daytime. It also manages individual light sources well, avoiding harsh glare or blown‑out spots.
Selfies

The selfie camera produces accurate skin tones with warm, natural undertones. It skips aggressive smoothing filters and preserves facial textures nicely. Portrait mode also separates subjects cleanly from the background.
Final Thoughts

There’s no doubt the Xiaomi 17T delivers on its promise of a premium experience at a more accessible price point. You’re getting standout features like the Dimensity 8500‑Ultra processor, capable Leica cameras, and solid battery life, all packed into a compact frame that punches above its weight.
Like most devices in this range, it’s not perfect. The stereo speakers could use more depth, and HyperOS still needs refinement.
Still, the Xiaomi 17T is a strong contender in the mid‑range segment and one that deserves a spot on your shortlist.
