Xiaomi may be testing a Redmi phone with a monster 8,500mAh battery

Redmi's monster battery could mean longer usage without adding extra bulk.

Xiaomi is reportedly testing a new Redmi smartphone with a massive battery between 8,500 and 9,000mAh. The rumor comes from popular leaker Digital Chat Station.

The battery is said to be self-developed by Xiaomi and designed to last longer without losing charging efficiency. Despite its size, the prototype device is reportedly just 8.5mm thick, similar to other Redmi phones.

It’s not yet clear which Redmi model will feature the new battery. Right now, Xiaomi’s largest battery belongs to the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, which launched earlier this year with a 7,550mAh capacity.

Other brands are also pushing battery limits. Honor is rumored to be working on a phone with a 10,000mAh battery, and iQOO has already released models with 8,000mAh batteries.

If Xiaomi releases this device, it could offer much longer usage without adding extra bulk. However, there’s no official word yet on specs or launch timing.

This trend shows how phone makers are now focusing more on battery life, as users expect their devices to last longer throughout the day. We’ve seen this across most brands, including vivo, realme, and OPPO.
