OnePlus has officially ended its camera partnership with Hasselblad, marking the close of a five-year collaboration. The two companies collaborated by combining Hasselblad’s color science with OnePlus’s hardware and software.

The partnership started in 2021 and focused on making mobile photos look more natural and true to life. That influence will continue in future devices, even as the companies part ways.

In a statement, OnePlus confirmed it is now developing its own imaging system called the DetailMax Engine. This new system aims to improve photo clarity and realism using advanced computational photography. The company says it was guided by user feedback, especially around zoom quality and image detail.

OnePlus also noted that most users care more about how photos look than about technical specs. The DetailMax Engine is designed to meet those expectations by focusing on sharpness and accuracy without over-editing.

While the Hasselblad chapter is closing, OnePlus says it remains open to future collaborations. The next flagship phone will be the first to feature the new imaging engine.
