Logitech’s new K980 keyboard runs on light, no charging cable needed

It can recharge using sunlight or indoor lighting.

Logitech has launched the Signature Slim Solar Plus K980, a wireless keyboard powered entirely by light. It can recharge using sunlight or indoor lighting with a brightness of at least 200 lux.

The keyboard has no USB port or swappable batteries. Once fully charged, it can work in total darkness for up to four months. Logitech says the built-in battery may last up to 10 years.

The K980 has a full-size layout with keys labeled for both Windows and macOS. It includes media controls, a numpad, and shortcut keys for muting the mic and toggling the camera.

A new Action key and AI Launch key are also included. The AI key opens Copilot on Windows or Gemini on ChromeOS by default, but users can change it to launch ChatGPT, Perplexity, or other tools.

Users can customize key functions using the Logi Options Plus app. The keyboard supports pairing with up to three Bluetooth devices and works with Logitech’s Bolt USB receiver, though it’s not included.

There are two versions: graphite (universal) and off-white (Mac-only, North America). Unlike older models, the K980 doesn’t show light levels with LEDs. Instead, users can check the charging status in the app.

Logitech’s K980 is priced at $99.99 (around ₱5,790) and available through major retailers.
