Nubia S2 launches in Japan with rugged build and budget price

Durability features are rare in entry-level devices.

Nubia has officially launched the Nubia S2 in Japan. The phone comes with a tough build and a budget-friendly price of JPY 21,888 (around PHP 8,350 or USD 142).

The Nubia S2 features a 6.7-inch FHD+ display with a 2400×1080 resolution. Inside, it runs on a UNISOC T8100 chip with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, expandable up to 1TB via microSD. It also packs a 5,100mAh battery in a slim 8mm body.

The phone is MIL-STD-810H certified for shock resistance and carries IP65, IP68, and IP69 ratings for water and dust protection. These are rare in entry-level devices, which makes the S2 a tough phone.

For cameras, the S2 has a 50MP main and a 5MP ultra-wide at the back, plus a 16MP front shooter.

Other features include NFC, Bluetooth 5, WiFi 5, GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a fingerprint scanner, and face unlock. It comes in Black, White, and Lavender.
