OPPO has signed a global patent licensing deal with Audi, giving the automaker access to its cellular standard essential patents, including 5G. The agreement lets Audi use OPPO’s wireless technologies across its connected vehicle lineup for better in‑car connectivity and communication features.
The partnership shows how tech and automotive companies can work together to improve connected experiences. OPPO said it wants a balanced patent ecosystem where licensing stays fair for everyone involved.
This is OPPO’s third bilateral patent licensing deal with a major carmaker. As cars rely more on mobile connectivity for navigation, diagnostics, entertainment, and safety, these agreements are becoming more important.
OPPO ranks eighth globally in overall 5G patent strength, based on data from LexisNexis IPlytics. As of September 2025, the company has filed more than 117,000 patent applications and holds over 65,000 granted patents worldwide. Its research covers 5G and 6G, artificial intelligence, charging systems, imaging, and video technologies.
