OPPO and MediaTek showcase on-device AI at MWC 2026, debuting on Find X9

OPPO and MediaTek showed off new on-device AI features at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona. The two companies are working together to bring AI directly to smartphones, announcing enhanced tools for translation and photography, as well as a new multimodal AI model designed to make phones smarter and more useful.

OPPO’s AI strategy is built around on-device computing. This means tasks run directly on the phone, giving faster results while keeping data private. With the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip, OPPO’s AI Translate and AI Portrait Glow now perform at the same level as cloud-based services.

AI Translate is 15 percent more accurate than older methods and works even without an internet connection. AI Portrait Glow improves photos taken in poor lighting, making them look more natural.

These features will roll out to the OPPO Find X9 series through the upcoming ColorOS 16 update. OPPO also previewed Omni, the first full-modal AI model that works on-device. Omni can process voice, video, and text, allowing phones to understand live scenes and answer questions in real time.

The collaboration also extends to ecosystem features. Android Quick Share, developed with MediaTek and Google, will let users transfer files between OPPO devices and iOS or macOS without third-party apps.

At MWC, the Find X9 Pro was shortlisted for the “Best Smartphone” award at the GLOMO Awards, while the Reno15 Pro showcased creative AI imaging tools.
