DreamWorks Animation has dropped the first trailer for Forgotten Island, an animated film inspired by Filipino folklore. The movie will hit US theaters on September 25, 2026.
The story follows two best friends, Jo (voiced by H.E.R.) and Raissa (voiced by Liza Soberano), who fall into a portal that pulls them into a world of shapeshifters, demons, and mythical creatures. The film features themes of friendship and memory, set against the backdrop of the 1990s.
The cast features familiar names, including Lea Salonga, Dave Franco, Manny Jacinto, Jenny Slate, Jo Koy, Dolly de Leon, Ronny Chieng, and Amielynn Abellera. For H.E.R., this is her first voice role, inspired by her Filipino heritage.
The animated movie is directed by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, who began working with each other on Kung Fu Panda 2.
