OxygenOS and realme UI will be discontinued, according to a new report, as OPPO moves to consolidate its smartphone software under ColorOS. The change follows months of restructuring and signals the end of two popular Android skins.
OxygenOS has been tied to ColorOS since the OnePlus Nord 2. Since its launch, it has had a cult following of a loyal community of enthusiasts, praised for speed and customization. The shift is expected. realme UI, on the other hand, is already based on ColorOS and will also be retired.
The report adds that maintaining three separate Android skins is costly, and merging them makes development easier for the company.
The restructuring comes after realme merged with OnePlus in April 2026. OnePlus devices are now listed as “Out of stock” in the UK, fueling speculation about the brand’s future. In India, OnePlus’s after-sales support has already been absorbed into OPPO’s service centers.
Community reactions are mixed. realme users may find the transition easy, but OnePlus fans see this as the end of OxygenOS. Many believe the brand lost its identity after founder Carl Pei left, while others argue ColorOS has matured enough to replace it.

In the end, the impact is clear: OPPO is cutting costs and streamlining its ecosystem. For users, this means future OnePlus and realme phones will run ColorOS, while existing devices may face uncertain software migration paths.
