Apple developing two new Apple Pencil models for next year

Apple is developing two new Apple Pencil devices, expected to be released next year, alongside new iPad Pro devices. The lineup will include an updated lower-end Apple Pencil with USB-C and a refreshed Pro model.

Both are expected to feature new battery systems, possibly to comply with upcoming EU rules requiring more replaceable batteries.

The move suggests Apple is preparing its accessories for stricter regulations while keeping its stylus lineup current. No design changes or new features have been detailed yet, but the focus appears to be on battery compliance and incremental updates.

For context, the current USB-C Apple Pencil launched in November 2023, while the Pro debuted in May 2024. These upcoming models will be the start of the next refresh cycle for Apple’s stylus lineup.
