Apple is adding a new feature that will let users copy and paste between an iPhone and a Windows PC. Microsoft asked for this in March 2026, saying Windows needed a counterpart to Apple’s Universal Clipboard.
Apple first raised concerns in April about technical and IP issues but later agreed to build the feature. By June 2026, the company confirmed it will use frameworks like Accessory Notifications, Accessory Live Activities, and AccessorySetupKit. Each paired Windows PC will need user consent before clipboard sharing works.
The rollout is set sometime in Q3/Q4 2027, with a developer beta planned before public release. Apple has not confirmed the exact version, but it could arrive with iOS 28. The feature could also be limited to the EU, depending on regulatory rules.

This update will make it easier for iPhone users to work across devices. For now, everyone will have to wait until Apple finishes development before trying it out.
