eNotarization service goes live on October 19

The Supreme Court (SC) has launched its eNotarization service. It officially rolled out on October 19 and uses accredited digital platforms for the process. The goal is to make notarization easier and more accessible to the public.

With the eNotarization service, electronic documents can now be signed and notarized through approved Electronic Notarization Facility providers.

The system is handled by Electronic Notaries Public (ENPs) who are authorized to perform electronic notarial acts. They can provide services to people anywhere in the Philippines. In some cases, they can also assist Filipinos who are outside the country.

The Supreme Court said ENPs must use only accredited facilities and follow the Rules on Electronic Notarization. These rules were approved earlier this year and serve as the framework for the new system.

To help with the rollout, the SC also signed joint memorandum circulars with the Land Registration Authority (LRA) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The agreements outline how electronically notarized documents will be accepted in transactions handled by the two agencies.

For most people, the biggest benefit is convenience. Instead of relying only on traditional paper-based notarization, you now have a digital option for certain transactions.
