Toshiba recently outed the Portégé R830, an ultra-thin and lightweight notebook that promises a good blend of performance and durability. Toshiba claims that the Portégé R830 is the world’s lightest 13.3-inch full-performance ultra-portable laptop featuring an integrated DVD drive.
The notebook offers protection through a design that is claimed to effectively absorb shock. The Portégé R830 is equipped with Impact Sensor Hard Drive that protects data stored on its hard-drive in case of damage from a fall. The keyboard, meanwhile, is designed to be water and spill resistant.
The Protege R830 runs Intel’s Core i3, i5, and i7 processors with Sandy Bridge technology. It also integrates Intel’s HyperThreading technology which allows each core to work on two separate tasks simultaneously. You get a longer working time with this notebook since it has an AirFlow Cooling System.
The Protégé R830 carries 4GB of RAM, integrated graphics and up to 640GB hard drive or 128GB SSD. It has a host of connectivity options including USB 3.0, WiFi, webcam, HDMI port, multitouch touchpad, and optional Bluetooth 3.0 and WiMAX.
The Toshiba Portégé R830 notebook is now available at a starting price of $889.
