Western Digital, known in the market for producing hard drives and solid state drives, recently announced the 2.5 TB and 3 TB WD AV-GP SATA hard drives, specifically targeted at the audio-video market segment. These SATA hard drives measure 3.5-inches and promises 24X7 reliability, low power consumption and massive storage capacity for storage-intensive AV applications such as digital video recorders, video surveillance, single-drive media servers and external multimedia storage.
The hard drives are designed for long use even in high-temperature and intensive always-on streaming digital AV environments. It also touts a power-saving WD GreenPower Technology and performance capabilities that capture up to 12 simultaneous HD video streams with SilkStream technology. It also optimizes AV applications like PVR/DVR, IPTV and video surveillance.
The WD AV-GP 2.5 TB hard drives (model number WD25EURS) and 3 TB WD AV-GP (model number WD30EURS) hard drives are available now. The WD AV-GP 2.5 TB hard drive retails for $159.99 while the 3 TB hard drive is priced at $179.99. They are covered by a three-year limited warranty.
