Millet Technology just announced the Foxxcon-made Xiaomi Phone, an Android phone that features the MIUI low-level custom UI based on Android 2.3.5. The most interesting part of the announcement is the price of the handset. The Xiaomi Phone will retail for only US$310 (about P13,000). This is a very aggressive pricing considering that the Xiaomi Phone will have the following specs: 1.5Ghz Qualcomm MSM8260 SoC processor, Adreno 220 graphics processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB ROM, GPS (with A-GPS) and 1930mAh battery. The battery alone is very impressive as it promises real-life usage of two days.
The rest of the features are a 4-inch 480 x 854 LCD, an eight megapixel camera with an F2.4 lens, and a dual antenna design. The handset has dimensions of 125mm x 63mm x 11.9mm and weighs 149g.
The Xiaomi Phone will be available for pre-order on August 29th and will start shipping in October. A 1.2GHz version will be available for an even cheaper price.
