This is a historic first in the Philippine Basketball Association – a team being named after an online website.
It has been recently revealed that the PBA team currently named Barako Bulls Energy Boosters will be renamed SHOPINAS.COM CLICKERS. The renaming is a clever marketing move and is meant to promote the website shopinas.com. This may be the first time you heard about the site but expect shopinas.com to get famous soon. It is not a secret that the Philippines is a basketball-loving country and its just a matter of time before shopinas.com become a household name.
I visited the website shopinas.com after hearing the news, as many of you would have probably done. The site is an online markletplace where merchants can create their online shops, much like multiply.com or, to a certain extent, sulit.com. Here is what’s posted on the website’s “About” page.
Dynamic and fresh, Shopinas is a one-of-a-kind online shopping portal tailor-fit for Filipinos here and across the globe. Connecting merchants and shoppers, Shopinas provides a fun, convenient, and secure online marketplace where anyone can buy and sell a gamut of wares: from shoes, bags, accessories, personal care products to the latest gadgets.
Founded in May 2010, Shopinas is one of Air Global 21 Inc.’s flagship projects. This integrated, end-to-end e-commerce platform is optimized to cater specifically to the needs of micro to small medium businesses based in thePhilippines. In this site, merchants get to customize their online store-front according to the look they want for their brands. Here, both merchants and buyers are guaranteed of a secure payment gateway, a reliable and efficient logistic solutions, all within the ease of a user-friendly interface.
So how did the name come about? According to Sheila Lina, President/CEO of Air 21 which is the owner of the PBA franchise, the name is a mash between two NBA teams – the Clippers and the Lakers. Quite interesting, actually, but CLICKERS itself is quite understandable as the team is named after a website.
All I can say now is, welcome to the PBA, SHOPINAS.COM CLICKERS!
ano ba ang totoo barako bull o shopinas.com?dba sa rookie draft ten teams dba..anong totoo barako bull o shopinas?bakit welcome cla e nag chnage ng name..akla ko mga bgohan ang magsali kaya welcome
They bought the Red Bull franchise for 65M. Much lower from the 85M price tag they paid for the Tanduay franchise. Question is do they intend to win games or just draft young and talented players only to be sold to teams like Petron or Talk and Text.
This is intredasting! An e-commerce PBA team wow. Welcome shopinas.com clickers!
