Facebook Messenger has been available on the Android and iOS for quite some time now. We know, though, that Facebook was cooking up a Messenger app for desktop after the app itself was leaked last year. Now the final version of Facebook Messenger is already available for download, although it is only compatible with Windows 7 OS at this time. For those using Mac or earlier versions of Windows, Facebook says it is still working on making Messenger available for these operating systems.
If you are on Windows 7, download the app now and see how it works. Facebook Messenger app acts just like any independent instant messaging app. This means you can stay connected with your Facebook friends even if you are browsing away from the Facebook website, or simply doing some other task on your desktop. What makes this a good independent app for heavy Facebook users is it notifies you whenever there’s an activity on your profile, like when you receive comments or there are new photo tags. It also displays user’s activity, making it easy for your contacts to see what you are doing on Facebook, or what apps you are busy with. It does not have a video chat feature though, although we may see this in future versions.
Some settings, like offices, have Facebook blocked, so Facebook Messenger could be a good alternative to getting the full experience on Facebook.
