WD Introduces My Net Line of Routers

WD is known for its cheap and dependable external storage and media player products but the company is branching into routers as it recently unveiled its first line of wireless home networking products called My Net. These routers are designed to accelerate movies, video and gaming as well as deliver high-definition entertainment experience.

These My Net home networking products feature WD’s FasTrack technology that instantly detects entertainment traffic on the network and fast-forwards it to gaming consoles, media players, smart TVs, tablets, smartphones, computers and other Wi-Fi connected devices.  What it does is it automatically prioritizes internet favorites like Netflix, Hulu Plus, VUDU, YouTube, Xbox LIVE, Skype and others. By using real-time analysis to maximize bandwidth for entertainment services, My Net routers provide a premium entertainment experience on any screen in the home that is connected to the router.

WD promises a friendly and intuitive user interface that enables quick router setup from wireless or wired devices such as iPads and other mobile devices. There’s an included My Net Dashboard that makes it easy for users to customize, monitor or change the settings of the network, including setting parental controls, Internet security, guest network access, network name and password, printer and scanner settings, and mapping storage drives.
