If you’ve dreaming about a gold-colored iPhone, this may be good news you’ve been waiting for. Apple is reportedly adding a gold color option to its current white and black iPhones. Apple is set to unveil the next iPhone, or iPhones if reports are to be believed, which will most likely be called the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. The gold option will be on the iPhone 5S as that is the one with anodized aluminum casing. The iPhone 5C will have a plastic finish according to leaks and rumors.
The gold on the iPhone 5S is just a finish, not real gold as that would cost too much. The report on the gold-colored iPhone firt came out from news site iMore then it was corroborated by TechCrunch, 9to5Mac and AllThingsD.
The new color option thankfully is not a sparkling or bright gold as that would just look cheap. The gold color is said to be an “elegant” gold tone closer to champagne. The gold color will not cover the entire phone, just the edges and the back panel. The front glass will be white and even the back will have white accents on top and at the bottom. Here is a rendering of that golod-colored iPhone.
Gold is not a popular color but there it will still have a lot of fans for sure. Gold is a reasonable choice for Apple since it’s reported that it’s among the easiest colors to anodize. Apple is getting flak for being boring and for not taking risks and offering a gold option is probably it’s way of making things exciting again.
Personally, I don’t find it appealing as the black or the white iPhone. But that’s just me. How about you, do you like a gold-colored iPhone?
