If you haven’t heard of it before, XDA Developers is the site to go to for all things Android (troubleshooting, flashing ROMs, etc.). That being said, I was pleasantly surprised when I read this news: a developer named Fallen_Knight over at XDA was able to flash (install) the Nokia X ROM on a Cherry Mobile Flare S100.
The Flare, by any means, is not a heavily specced device. But it does offer good performance for a relatively affordable price. So, seeing a newly minted Nokia X ROM on a device that’s almost 2 years old says a lot about the Flare. Anyway, the ROM still needs a bit of work. According to the site, everything works except for the FM radio and mobile hotspot. Just like a real Nokia X, you would have Fast Lane and some Nokia Apps. And just like like it, you won’t have access to Google service and the Play Store (although I think the developer included a link for it).
Be warned, however, that you would need to at least know a bit of technical knowledge to do this. You could risk permanently damaging or bricking your device. So I advise everyone who’s going to try this to proceed with a caution.
