With 4TB of storage, the Seagate Backup Plus has one of the largest capacity HDD in the market. The all black portable drive may look ordinary, but its performance is everything but.
Design
Seagate’s Backup Plus Fast has an unassuming and simple design. It has an all black metal chasis, with a matte finish and an LED notification light on the upper left corner of the top case. Measuring in at 4.6 x 3.2 x 0.8 inches and weighing in at 0.68 lbs., it certainly isn’t the smallest or the lightest portable drive in the market. With a thickness of 0.8 inches, it isn’t thin either, but with good reason. Because inside the Backup Plus Fast are two internal hard drives setup in a RAID configuration for a total of 4TB. Like most portable HDDs today, the Backup Plus Fast is equipped with a USB 3.0 for fast data transfers.
The Backup Plus Fast comes preloaded with the Seagate Dashboard program. The retail package comes with a USB 3.0 cable, and a USB 3.0 Y cable.
Performance
When it comes to performance, the Backup Plus Fast is, well, fast. To test the transfer speed, I moved multiple HD videos between a laptop and the portable drive using a USB 3.0 port. I was able to get around 70MB per second transferring from the Backup Plus Fast to a laptop, and around 80MB per second transferring from a laptop to the Backup Plus Fast.
Software
The Backup Plus Fast comes with the Seagate Dashboard program. You are presented with different back up and sharing options.
Conclusion
If you are looking for a huge capacity portable drive that performs like a champ, then you should take a look at the Seagate Backup Plus Fast. It’s may be thicker than most drives, but it has excellent build quality and fast transfer speeds.
The Seagate Backup Plus Fast 4TB has an SRP of PHP15,990. You can find one on most computer stores nationwide.

You don’t say you were able to get around 70MB per second transferring from the Backup Plus Fast to a laptop, and around 80MB per second transferring from a laptop to the Backup Plus Fast. What is your laptop and what HDD is in your laptop? Is it SSD? Your laptop/laptop’s HDD could be hindering the transfer rate of the drive.
