The ASUS ZenFone 4 and the ZenFone 4 Pro is now official in the Philippines. The handsets come with dual cameras, glass/aluminum builds, and premium pricing.
The ZenFone line has come a long way since we first covered the ZenFone 2’s launch a few years ago in Indonesia. When it was introduced, ASUS positioned the line in the affordable premium category. In 2017, the handsets now command a premium price for top of the line specs and an improved ZenUI experience.
ASUS ZenFone 4 Philippines Price, Specs
My guestimate (of about Php20k) was off. The ASUS ZenFone 4 is priced at Php28,995.While it may seem costly, it does come with a spectrum of premium pieces. The phone comes with an elegant glass/aluminum design. It features a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display with front and back Gorilla Glass 4. Under the hood, you’ll find a Snapdragon 630/660 paired with 6GB of RAM and a generous 64GB of storage.
As previously mentioned, the handset comes with a dual camera setup of 12MP + 8MP. It works similar to that of the LG G6 where the second sensor is used for wide angle shots. The 12MP camera uses a Sony IMX362 sensor paired to a large f1.8 aperture lens with PDAF and OIS. While the 8MP camera provides the ultra wide-angle views. The front camera uses an 8MP sensor with f2.0 lens.

ASUS ZenFone 4 Pro Philippines Price, Specs
Pricing is trickier on the ASUS Zenfone 4 Pro. The handset comes with premium price tag of (gasp!) Php39,995. Its expensive, considering it lacks some flagship features such as water and dust resistance. But it does have a lot of top-of-the-line specs to convince you its a premium handset.
The ZenFone 4 Pro comes with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, an Adreno 540 graphics unit, 6GB of RAM, and a large 3,600mAh battery with fast charging.
It’s cameras use three high-end Sony sensors. The dual rear camera uses a 12MP + 16MP setup. The 12MP camera uses a Sony IMX362 sensor with an f1.7 aperture, a 25mm lens, a 4-axis OIS, PDAF, and Laser AF. The 16MP camera uses a Sony IMX351 sensor with 2x lossless optical zoom and a 50mm focal length. And lastly, the 8MP front camera is equipped with a Sony IMX319 sensor with a f1.9 lens and a wide field of view.
Aside from that, its other features include a USB Type-C port, Android 7.1.1 Nougat, support for up to 2TB microSD cards, a headphone jack, and a fingerprint scanner.
Still unconvinced of its price tag? Understandably so. I guess no one was expecting the premium pricing. In the end though, only you can decide if you’re willing to pay for the ZenFone 4 Pro’s top specs and features.
