Looks like celebrity ambassadors are getting first dibs at new OPPO smartphones. Kapamilya star Julia Baretto posted on her Instagram account an unidentified smartphone given to her by the Chinese manufacturer. She will be using it at the upcoming Star Magic Ball 2017.
From what we can gather, it looks like a 6-inch smartphone with an 18:9 display, small bezels and single lens camera at the rear. Further supporting this claim the is the fact that the fingerprint sensor is mounted at back, meaning the company moved it there possibly to make room for more real estate up front.
Most likely this is going to be another selfie expert, given that the star was challenged to post her best selfie. We can’t clearly see the front, but we are expecting dual selfie cameras, given that the OPPO F3 had them.
Lastly, why name it OPPO F5 Plus? Should it be F4 since the last phone was an F3? As naming conventions go, superstition may have something to do with it. Since OPPO is primarily a Chinese company, the number “4” is widely considered bad luck. The Chinese word for “4” is also the same word used for the term “death.”
It remains to be seen what new smartphone OPPO will be releasing this October 2017. There’s a chance that this will be an all new series. We’ll have to wait and see in the next couple of weeks.
