The Huawei Mate 10 became official a few days ago. And it looks like the company has another hit on its hands.

Huawei Mate 10

The Huawei Mate 10 is now official and it looks like the company has another contender on their hands. If their recent mid-range device is a hit for me, and I imagine this one will be one too.

Huawei’s latest flagship features a 5.9-inch FullView IPS display with a 2560 x 1440 resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio format (yes, that’s a regular 16:9 screen size). Huawei will be using the newer 18:9 format on the more expensive Mate 10 Pro.

Under the hood, the Mate 10 is equipped with an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The phone is said to be enhanced by the company’s AI technology.

Rounding out the specs, the handset has a USB Type-C port, an audio jack (yes!),a front mounted fingerprint scanner, a 4,000 mAh battery, and Android 8.0 Oreo.

Dual Leica Cameras

No surprises here. The Mate 10 comes with dual 20MP + 12MP rear cameras with Leica Optics. It’s f/1.6 aperture lens has Lossless Zoom and is supported by OIS, PDAF, Laser AF and a dual LED flash. The front camera uses single 8MP shooter with a f/2.0 aperture lense.

AI-Powered SoC

What sets the Huawei Mate 10 apart against other flagships is the Kirin 970. It is their first mobile AI-enhanced SoC, and features a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU). The NPU drastically reduces the phone’s performance degradation over a period of time through learned behavior. The chip uses information based on cloud data and computing, combined with device sensors that record real time, scenario-specific, and personalized data, and then uses that to provide personalized services to fit the user’s needs.

The Huawei Mate 10 is priced at EUR 699, or roughly Php43,000. I’m pretty sure it will reach Philippine shores, but I just don’t know when.
