Huawei P20 and P20 Pro is now official; Specs, price finally revealed

Huawei officially launches the Huawei P20 and the P20 Pro. The phones feature notched displays, Kirin 970 processors, and Android Oreo.

Amidst all the leaks, Huawei finally pulls the wraps off of the Huawei P20 and the P20 Pro in Paris, France. Boasting notched displays and Kirin 970 processors, the P20 features dual Leica cameras, while the P20 Pro has the first triple camera setup.

The Huawei P20 comes with a 5.8-inch full HD+ RGBW display with a 2244 by 1080 resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. While the Huawei P20 Pro with a 6.1-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2240 by 1080 and a 18:9 aspect ratio. Both phones come with a much celebrated notch at the top of the screen, which houses the receiver, sensors, and the front camera.

For the P20, its dual cameras combine a primary 12MP RGB sensor with a secondary 20MP monochrome sensor — the former equipped with a f/1.8 lens, while the latter with a f/1.6.

The P20 Pro’s triple camera system consist of a primary 40MP RGB sensor, a 20MP monochrome sensor, and an 8MP telephoto sensor. All three sensors work together to make the camera shoot faster, providing up to 5x zoom, with a maximum ISO of 102,400.

Both phones have 24MP front cameras, which is more than enough for most uses.

Inside, the handsets are powered by an octa-core Kirin 970 processor, paired with 4GB RAM for the P20, and 6GB RAM for the P20 Pro. Both offer 128GB storage, and run EMUI 8.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

One of the highlights of the P20 series is its AI features. The technology not only powers the cameras by intelligently detecting scenes, it also assists both hardware and software for an improved smartphone experience and efficiency.

The P20 and P20 Pro come with 3,400 mAh and 4,000 mAh batteries with fast charging. Despite the sizes, Huawei managed to keep the bodies of both devices slim at 7.65mm and 7.8mm respectively.

The rest of the specs include fingerprint sensors which doubles as a smart navigation tool, IP53 splash resistance for the P20, IP68 dust and water resistance for the P20 Pro, and USB Type-C ports.

As for the price, the Huawei P20 has a retail price of EUR 649 (around PHP 42,200 or USD 810), while the P20 Pro at EUR 899 (PHP 58,500 or USD 1,120).
