Is this the Huawei Mate 20? Leaks and image renders reveal a waterdrop display notch and triple cameras.
Huawei Mate 20 Leaks
Folks at XDA-Developers posted renders of the upcoming Huawei Mate 20 and it looks like the handset is ready to sport this year’s newest display trend — the waterdrop notch.
The waterdrop notch debuted on the OPPO F9 (technically the Essential Phone was first but it was more of a nub or a dimple). It is the latest “innovation” to maximize the display by minimizing the bezels. Previously, the bar-type notch was the first attempt at it, popularized by the iPhone X.
At the back, the renders show a triple camera module arranged in an interesting square orientation. The cameras will most likely be “tuned” by Leica, and is expected to perform better than or at least on par with the Huawei P20 Pro.
Reports suggest the rear will be made of glass, which will allow wireless charging. A fingerprint scanner will be at the rear as well.
Additionally, the handset will also come with a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top, a welcome addition in a world of flagships intent of removing it.
As for the specs, the Huawei Mate 20 is said to come with a 6.3-inch AMOLED display with a 2244 x 1080 resolution, a HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor, 6GB RAM, and 128GB of storage. It will have a USB Type-C port, a 4,200 mAh battery with wireless charging, and Android 9 Pie out of the box.
That’s about it for the Huawei Mate 20. Again, like all leaks and rumors, please take these with a grain of salt. The renders are based on photographs of an engineering unit — meaning the designs are not yet final and could still change. Until Huawei confirms any of these, assume that these are all rumors.
Hopefully, more information will crop up in the coming days.
