Realme 5, 5 Pro with four rear cameras are now official

Realme recently unveiled the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro in India. The handsets come with four cameras, huge batteries, and pocket friendly price tags.

I guess you can say that Realme has done it again — offering good value for money by pairing an attractive spec sheet with an affordable price tag. Their latest offering, the Realme 5 series, is no different. And it comes in two flavors — the Realme 5 and the 5 Pro.

Realme 5

Let’s start with the Realme 5. The handset comes with a 6.5-inch HD display with a long 20:9 ratio and Gorilla Glass 3+. Inside, it has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 655 11nm processor with RAM/storage options of 3/2GB, 4/64GB, and 4/128GB.

The phone features four rear cameras with a 12MP f/1.8 Main, an 8MP f/2.25 Ultra-wide, a 2MP Macro, and a 2MP Depth sensors. The front camera, on the other hand, has a 13MP f/2.0 sensor tucked away in a tiny dewdrop notch.

Aside from the cameras, the Realme 5 also boasts a large 5,000mAh battery. However, it uses a microUSB port for charging with no fast charge support. It also has a fingerprint scanner at the rear, face unlock, and ColorOS 6 (awww, I was hoping for RealmeOS).

Realme 5 Pro

The Realme 5 Pro comes with a smaller display but better internals. It has a 6.3-inch full HD display with a 19.5:9 ratio. Under the hood, there’s an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor with RAM/storage options of 4/64GB, 6/64GB, and 8/128GB.

This too has four cameras — a 48MP f/1.8 main with a Sony IMX 586 sensor, an 8MP f/2.2 Ultra-wide, a 2MP f/2.4 Macro, and a 2MP f/2.4 Depth. And there’s a 16MP front camera on the dewdrop notch.

Rounding out the specs sheet, there’s a smaller 4,035mAh battery. This one has a 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charge support and uses a USB Type-C port for charging. You also have a rear fingerprint scanner and a ColorOS 6.

Price and Availability

Here are the prices of the new Realme 5 series smartphones:

  • Realme 5 3GB + 32GB – INR 9,999 (roughly PHP 7,300)
  • Realme 5 4GB + 64GB – INR 10,999 (PHP 8,050)
  • Realme 5 4GB + 128GB – INR 11,999 (PHP 8,800)
  • Realme 5 Pro 4GB + 64GB – INR 13,999  (PHP 10,300)
  • Realme 5 Pro 6GB + 64GB – INR 14,999 (PHP 10,970)
  • Realme 5 Pro 8GB + 128GB – INR 16,999 (PHP 12,450)

Take note that the converted prices above are rough estimates only and are not the final prices that will be reflected in the Philippines. According to Realme PH, local prices will be subject to local taxes.

As for availability, the Realme 5 will be available in India starting August 27, while the Realme 5 Pro will arrive on September 4.

No news yet on whey the series will come to the Philippines, but they did at least acknowledge that it is indeed coming here so stay tuned for the announcement.
