Grab complies with PCC, refunds over P19 million to users

Did you get a refund?

Last November 2019, Grab was ordered by the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) to refund riders who paid high fares last year. A few days ago, they did just that, refunding riders a total of PHP 19.2 million through GrabPay Wallets.

According to Grab’s statement, the refund works this way — select riders with total fares of every PHP 1,200 from 10 February until 10 May 2019, and of every PHP 450 from 11 May until 10 August 2019 will be eligible for PHP 1.00 to the GrabPay Wallet for each of the relevant periods.

From the overall total of PHP 19.2 million, PHP 5.05 million was distributed to users who used GrabCar in Metro Manila from February 10 to May 10, 2019. While PHP 14.15 million went to those who used the service from May 11 to August 10, 2019.

Check for refund

To check if you got a refund, fire up the Grab app and go to the inbox. You will see a message titled “Redeem your GrabPay voucher.” Tap on that and you will see a list PHP 1 awards (depending on how many times you used their service during the affected dates).

Choose one and tap “Use Now,” and select to have it credited to your wallet. That’s it.

As for me, I received five PHP 1 refunds for a total fo PHP 5. How much did you get?
