Last of Us TV adaptation is coming to HBO soon

HBO confirms the hit PlayStation game The Last of Us is going to be adapted into a live action TV show.

The upcoming series will be made by HBO in collaboration with Sony. It will be streamed on HBO Max and subsequently aired on HBO. According to reports, the show will be written by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and Neil Druckmann (the game’s director from developer Naughty Dog), and produced by Carolyn Strauss (Game of Thrones)

The Last of Us is a multi-award winning game (including Game of the Year) from developer Naughty Dog. It was released for the PlayStation 3 in June 2013, and remastered for the PlayStation 4 in July 2014. The game was one of the best-selling games of all time with over 17 million sold by April 2018 from the day it was launched.

The Last of Us follows protagonist Joel who was tasked to escort Ellie across a world ravaged by a zombie apocalypse caused by a fungus plague that turned people into cannibalistic monsters.

The game itself is highly cinematic with a elements of drama and action, mixed with zombies. In other words, its has great potential to become a very good show.

No date has been set on when we’ll get to see The Last of Us.
