realme GT 5G: Snapdragon 888 flagship for less

TL;DR: realme launched its latest flagship, the realme GT with a powerful Snapdragon 888 5G.

realme unveils its latest flagship, the realme GT. Dubbed a flagship killer, the phone aims to disrupt the industry’s mid- to high-end smartphone segment, packing uncompromised power and specs at a reasonable price.

The realme GT is the company’s first flagship phone. It is part of the company’s plans to increase 5G offerings in more than 20 devices by next year, upping the ratio of 5G devices in its entire product lineup to 70-percent.

With its diverse portfolio of 5G products, realme takes on the role of a popularizer of 5G. At its recent 5G summit, the company announced its intention to put young users at the forefront of driving global 5G adoption, with the goal of providing them with 100 million 5G phones by 2024 and launching an industry-first USD 100 5G mobile phone in the next few years.

The realme GT features flagship specs, starting with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G processor. It comes in two variants — 8GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB. To maximize speed, the phone boasts LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

At the front, you have a 6.43-inch Samsung AMOLED display with a full HD resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 360Hz touch sampling rate.

At the back is a triple camera system with a 64MP main, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro. The main camera is backed by a Sony IMX682 with a 6P lens. The selfie camera has a 16MP sensor.

The realme GT also features a 4,500mAh battery with a 65-watt fast charging. The rest of the specs include stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack (something we don’t see on flagships anymore), and realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11.

Price and Availability

  • realme GT 8GB + 128GB – EUR 449
  • realme GT 12GB + 256GB – EUR 599

The realme GT comes with flagship killer price tags. The 8GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB variants retail for EUR 449 and EUR 599, respectively.

Converted to local pricing, that’s around Php 26,000+ and Php 35,000+. That may not be actual Philippine prices, but we do get a rough estimate – which, by the way, looks pocket-friendly given the specs.

Currently, there is no word yet on when the realme GT 5G will be launched in the Philippines but the company promises that there will be 5G products coming in locally, probably sooner than we think.
