The YouTube app is experiencing issues on Android phones, affecting users in some countries including the Philippines and Japan.
Those affected will notice that the YouTube app will not stream or load videos properly. I noticed this myself, after updating to the latest version of the app. It will also load and play on other apps such as Twitter or Chrome, but not the YouTube app itself.

The issue is confirmed on DownDetector, which saw an increase in reported outages in the last 24 hours. At the time of this article, reported problems to include video streaming (70%), server connection (28%), and website (2%).
Android phones that we have that have not yet been updated to the latest YouTube app are still working properly. iOS devices are not affected. YouTube on desktop browsers is working properly as well.

We also noticed that some videos would play, while others would not load at all and get stuck on a loading screen.
Hmm – we recommend trying some troubleshooting steps like restarting your device and logging out and back in to your account. More tips here: https://t.co/1ku1gJcODh. Let us know if those do the trick.

Restarting your phone or clearing cache and storage didn’t fix the problem. If you really need to watch YouTube, you can still access it via the web browser on your phone until it is fixed.
