PLDT Home achieves record-high Q1 service revenue

Superior customer experience from PLDT’s expansive fiber network has driven the growth of the Philippines’ largest and fully integrated telco.

“The pandemic has ushered in the digital transformation of our ways of working and living. Although restrictions have eased, many employees and students still work and study at home, whether full-time or in a hybrid setup. We see that home broadband remains essential to our consumers’ lifestyle as we continue to navigate the next normal with fiber being preferred due to the speed and superior data experience it offers,” said Jeremiah de la Cruz, Senior Vice President and Head of Consumer Business – Home at PLDT.

The sustained rollout of an already expansive network bolstered PLDT Home’s first-quarter fiber-only service revenues by 74% on year, or by ₱4.7 billion, to a record high of ₱11.1 billion. Including other businesses, total Home service revenues increased 25% on-year or by ₱2.7 billion to an all-time high of ₱13.6 billion.

Fiber-only revenues now account for 82% of total Home revenues, up from 59% from a year ago.

“With our customers as our north star, PLDT Home’s future-ready innovations, including top-of-the-line Smart Home solutions such as Wifi Mesh devices, entertainment, and security services bundled with its flexible broadband plans, continue to set the bar for home internet connectivity in the country,” de la Cruz added.

PLDT consistently led the Ookla Speedtest Awards in the past four years. In the second half of 2021, PLDT Home launched its biggest speed upgrade for customers with thrice as many speeds as the previous broadband plans.

In November 2021, PLDT Home launched the country’s first-ever 10,000 Mbps fiber-optic service in the Philippines, putting the country alongside first-world nations that have access to such ultra-fast home internet speeds.

All these innovations are powered by the PLDT’s widest network in the country with its fiber infrastructure expanded to 803,000 kilometers, extending its reach to 15.5 million homes passed, and with 6.25 million fiber-powered ports. PLDT has earmarked ₱85 billion in 2022 to further expand its network.

To date, PLDT Home has connected over 3.1 million fixed broadband homes – of which 2.6 million are fiber subscribers — providing reliable connection for work at home, online school, and family entertainment at home amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
