PLDT warns of scammers impersonating personnel

The company issued a warning after recent incidents where subscribers were targeted by fraudsters.

PLDT is urging its customers in Mindanao, particularly Davao del Norte, to be vigilant against scammers posing as PLDT personnel. The company issued a warning after recent incidents where subscribers were targeted by fraudsters.

“We would like to remind our subscribers to be vigilant against various scams, and to report suspicious incidents to local authorities in their area,” said Alan Abrina, Customer Service South Mindanao Area Head at PLDT, adding that PLDT is also collaborating with the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Davao Region and Davao City to help keep its customers safe from scammers.

PLDT clarified that legitimate field technicians or sales representatives would never collect existing modems without providing replacements first.

To report suspicious incidents, subscribers can call PLDT’s Hotline 164 from any landline or mobile phone, regardless of network. When reporting other concerns, such as cable problems, customers are advised to provide a brief description of the issue, date and time of occurrence, exact location (including barangay, town/city, and province), and their contact details. A landmark or photo of the affected area is also helpful.

“By working together, we can all help improve PLDT’s services as well as keep our communities safe from accidents that may be caused by low-hanging wires or open or broken manhole covers,” said Cathy Yang, FVP and Group Corporate Communications Head at PLDT.
