Netflix announces The Witcher Season 4, replaces Henry Cavill with Liam Hemsworth

Netflix announced that The Witcher series is getting a Season 4. However, it’s doing so without Henry Cavill. Instead, Geralt of Rivia is going to be played by Liam Hemsworth.

Henry Cavill was instrumental in bringing Geralt of Rivia to life, choosing to portray the protagonist as close to the book as possible. He is a big fan of The Witcher books and games.

In a Tweet, Netflix confirmed the news, surprising many. Liam Hemsworth will be replacing Henry Cavill as the white-haired monster slayer Geralt of Rivia for Season 4. Cavill will play Geralt only until Season 3.

Henry Cavill also posted a statement on Instagram, “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men. Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”

The Witcher is based on the best-selling fantasy series of books by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. Like most of us, you probably heard of it from the video game adaptation of the same title. The series follows the adventures of witcher Geralt of Rivia, using his supernatural abilities to fight monsters of all sizes as he travels the Continent.
